Doll

Here is the doll i chose to use...

Drawing it up wasn't too challenging, however there is so much hair and the left hand is in a really weird position.

I have started using different techniques for each box..

The middle square with the face and chest I used conte pencil and watercolours

The next square I did was mostly hair and I used: schlack, tar and gesso..

I did the body with charcoal, gesso and graphite... still need to work in on it though!

I have also started doing the left hand, I am using pencil in a cross-hatched fashion..

More experimentation...

Here is some more experimentation that we did a few weeks ago...
We had to create a form out of parts of the human body, collage and in the background velvet cloth.

Art Experimentation

Thought I would put up some of the art experimentation that we did in class a few weeks ago..

Simon Mee

Simon Mee, a graduate from the Queensland University Technology with a Bachelor of Arts, employs a cartoonish quality through his reality artworks; however goes beyond skill and looks at some very engaging ideas.

This series of artworks are from The Suburban Sweet series which is the latest work of Brisbane-based artist Simon Mee.

The very top artwork is the one I think I will use.
The title, "Not a conga line" gives me a few clues in interpreting it.

So far I have gathered from this picture, that the message could be along the lines of:

Life is not all fun and games i.e. a conga line

It is in a suburban Brisbane setting

All the dolls are women/girls

It is a nice setting: blue sky, palm trees, a path, a picket fence, a house, a mailbox, green garden. However this is not resembled in the dolls emotions/body language

Additionally, the girl at the back is looking at what is in store for her as she follows in their footsteps/shadows.

I now have to look at the elements and principles, analize and interpret it.
